一次性頭痛は，薬物療法以外の予防的治療も期待されている．薬物療法以外の治療法につき Randomized Controlled Trial （ RCT ）のあるものを中心に検索した．

薬物療法以外の一次性頭痛の治療法には以下のようなものがある
㈰  行動療法：緩和訓練 、 バイオフィードバック，認知行動療法， 催眠療法 → 〈片頭痛、緊張型頭痛〉
㈪  理学療法：鍼， 経皮的電気刺激 → 〈片頭痛、緊張型頭痛〉
㈫  サプリメント： ナツシロギク（ Feverfew ） ， マグネシウム， ビタミン B2 （リボフラビン） → 〈片頭痛〉
これらの治療法は薬物療法以外の治療を希望する患者，薬物治療に耐えられない患者，薬物療法に禁忌のある患者，薬物治療に反応しない患者，妊娠または妊娠の可能性のある患者，薬物乱用頭痛の既往，明らかなストレス下にある患者に対する治療オプションである ^1） ．
㈰  行動療法
緩和訓練，緩和訓練と結合される体温バイオフィードバック，筋電図バイオフィードバック，認知行動療法，催眠療法は，緊張型頭痛（ TTH ），片頭痛の予防療法として有用である ^1）2） ． 片頭痛患者に対するリラクセーションおよびバイオフィードバック療法により，プロプラノロールとほぼ同等の頭痛の軽減を認めたというメタ解析がある ^3） ． 予防的薬物療法と併用し臨床的改善が期待できる可能性がある．（ 推奨グレードＢ）
㈪  理学療法
一次性頭痛の急性期治療および予防に対する鍼治療，経皮的電 ^4）5）6）気刺激は RCT がなされていて有効とされている．しかし 試験の質，および量は不十分で， さらなるエビデンスの集積が必要である ．

カイロプラクティックや 頸部操作（脊椎徒手整復治療）は， RCT の報告もあるが ^7）8） 専門家の一定の見解は得られておらず，手技によっては危険性も伴うため，治療に用いるためには十分な注意が必要である．（推奨グレードＣ）
㈫  サプリメント
