効率的な頭痛診療を行なうためには良好な医師 ‐患者関係が必要である．患者教育に重点を置いた頭痛治療プログラムは , 慢性頭痛患者の支障度･障害度を改善し満足度を高める．また，医師は正確な診断名を患者に告げるとともに，頭痛に対する適切な対処法・治療法を患者に説明しなければならない

背景・目的

慢性頭痛の予防的治療・急性期治療では患者本人の頭痛に対する理解と適切な対応が治療効果に直接結びつく． 頭痛診療における患者教育は極めて重要である． また，それを推進するためには良好な医師 ‐患者関係の構築が必要である．

解説・エビデンス

患者教育プログラム，あるいは患者教育を含む包括的頭痛治療プログラムが頭痛のタイプに関わらず患者 QOL を改善することがいくつかの非比較研究で示されている 1)-11) ．頭痛患者に，頭痛の本質，症状発現のメカニズム，自己対処法，治療法，治療薬とその作用機序・副作用を説明し理解させることによって，支障度･障害度が改善され患者の満足度を高める．患者教育を十分に行い，患者自身の治療に対するモチベーションを高めるためには良好な医師 ‐患者関係を構築することが重要である ．
