Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the International Headache Society it is my great pleasure to be co-sponsor of the upcoming Headache Master School 2013, in Tokyo.

The meeting will bring together over a dozen world-renown headache experts to teach and mentor the most promising junior physicians in South-East Asia.

This meeting is a result of a great detail of hard work and careful collaboration between our colleagues in Japan, members of the South-East Asian headache community and the International Headache Society.

The most crucial responsibility of our societies is to develop leaders who will take over our mission – to make the world a better place for people with headache disorders…

I am proud to offer the strongest support, and best wishes of the International Headache Society to this meeting.

Peter J Goadsby
President
International Headache Society

Dear Colleagues,

We are very proud to host Headache Master School 2013 in Tokyo.
We will welcome 13 world-leading headache experts representing International Headache Society, and local headache specialists in Asia-Pacific nations. They are going to contribute to making this learning opportunity as fruitful as possible through their concerted cooperation.

Not surprisingly, the number of applicants in Japan exceeded 100 within several days after the announcement of application was made on the website of the Japanese Headache Society, which clearly indicated the magnitude of participants’ expectations and eagerness for Headache Master School 2013. It is also a great pleasure to welcome delegates and participants from many Asian countries. We can affirm that this meeting will promote the cooperation and interactions among IHS and Headache Societies across Asia-Pacific countries.

A glimpse of the program will make you realize that Headache Master School 2013 covers a wide-range of important topics and subjects related to headache medicine. Headache medicine has a long history; as a result, there are established rules in headache diagnosis and management. Meanwhile, in recent years, much progress has been made to unravel the pathophysiological mechanisms of headache disorders, especially migraine, by innovative approaches. Needless to say, headache medicine should be developed by assimilating novel knowledge and insights. Accordingly, recent research highlights will be reviewed.

At the meeting, each lecture delivered by the faculty will be a crystal of his/her clinical expertise and experience. On the side of students, active learning attitude is the most important element. Particularly, every student has to play an active role in case-based learning.

We hope that Headache Master School 2013 will be a very significant opportunity for both faculty members and students, and will become seeds for further development of headache medicine in Asian countries.
